Petaling Jaya, 21 July 2020 – Honda Malaysia (or the Company) today announced that the New BR-V has recorded more than 1,400 bookings within a month since its launch. The impressive record is attributed to the stylishness of the Bold Runabout Vehicle (BR-V), which integrates SUV design with MPV spacious interior to result in an attractive 7-Seater that can meet family’s daily needs. Since the BR-V was first introduced in Malaysia in 2017, it has quickly become one of the most popular 7-Seaters in the market with more than 32,600 units sold.
The New BR-V received high demand from customers in the Central region, which translated to 42% of the total bookings. Of the two variants available, over 85% units of booking were for the V variant, while the E variant made up the balance of the total number of bookings. More than 24% of the bookings were for Modern Steel Metallic, which makes it the favourite colour among the New BR-V owners.
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “As Malaysia is now in the recovery phase, most of the businesses have resumed operations and are adapting to the new normal with strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) put in place. With the reopening of our dealerships, we are also pleased to see that our customers are visiting the dealerships for inquiry, car purchases and services. We would like to emphasise that all Honda dealers are safe to visit with the necessary precautions such as temperature screening, hand sanitizing and crowd control. We are working hard to ensure a clean and safe environment that can provide our customers with peace of mind when visiting Honda dealerships. We also encourage our customers and associates to practise social distancing at all times. Last month, Honda Malaysia announced the price reduction for Honda cars following the announcement of sales tax exemption by the Malaysian Government, in which the price of the New BR-V was lowered. In addition to helping to stimulate the country’s economy and the local automotive industry, this exemption provides a great incentive for people who wish to purchase a car as the nation begins to recover from the impact of COVID-19.”
The exterior of the New BR-V received several upgrades comprising a New Front Grille, New Front Bumper with Lower Bumper Garnish, New Front Fog Light Garnish as well as a New 16-inch Dual-Tone Alloy Wheel Design. It also has a refreshed rear design with a New Shark Fin Antenna and New Rear Bumper with Lower Bumper Garnish. Known as a range-topper, the New BR-V is equipped with the highest engine in its class – a 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine coupled with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) that produces 120PS of power. To top it off, the New BR-V is fitted with Paddle Shift* that offers smoother and more exhilarating driving experience.
The Full 7-Seater Crossover also comes with the biggest trunk space at 223 litres when all seats are up and 539 litres when the third-row seats are folded down. Multiple configurations were also incorporated in the New BR-V, which are the 60:40 One Touch Tilt & Tumble in the second row and 50:50 Tilt & Full Tumble in the third row. Widely acclaimed for its versatility and spaciousness, the New BR-V is an ideal 7-Seater that makes it even more fun to travel with family as well as perfect for daily commute. Interior-wise, the driver and passengers can enjoy maximum comfort in a pleasing cabin space featuring dashing new leather seats with Red Finishing in the V variant. These enhancements have further elevated the attractiveness of the New BR-V, making it a family car with a sportier and trendier appearance.
In conjunction with the introduction of the New BR-V, Honda Malaysia also launched two Community Relief Campaigns – “Be Kind with BR-V” and “Honda Dealer Donation Drive”, to aid COVID-19 relief programmes as well as to help affected communities in the surrounding areas of Honda dealers.

As a little help goes a long way, we are certainly heartened by the generosity and kindness of the customers who visited the dealers with their donations for the affected communities. We would also like to thank our customers who purchase the New BR-V, of which a portion of the proceeds from every unit sold will be channeled to the COVID-19 relief programmes,” Mr. Ishiyama added.
